Some useful key extensions

An extension is a name prefix that indicates a file type. Some extensions are :

.bmp        Bitmap graphic file
.conf        Configuration file
.db           Database file
.dvi          Device-independent TeX file
.gif           GIF graphics file
.gz            File compressed using the GNU gzip utility file 
.html        Hypertext Markup Language file
.jpg          JPEG graphics file
